The UF Health North campus is the only full-service hospital in North Jacksonville. The facility includes a 92-bed hospital, 24/7 adult and pediatric emergency center, and an outpatient multispecialty medical office building.
Our team worked with the Project Architect to establish a meaningful approach to landscape architecture throughout the Health Campus. The outcome embraced healthcare operations while providing exterior courtyards, a green roof, a fitness greenway and pedestrian circulation with a special reverence to NE Florida. The centerpiece of the landscape architectural improvements is an enclosed courtyard that allows for the appropriate use of the space by visitors and patients as well as staff. This requires a carefully implemented approach to provide the appropriate separation while offering a sensitive solution to materiality, spatial articulation and circulation. The use of plantings, elevation and vertical improvements were combined to create a highly functional and sought-after place fostering respite, conversation and relaxation.
