Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Legacy Walk Pedestrian Way
As the campus master planner at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, our team was asked to provide a structure to the pedestrian experience on campus. The primary goal was to create a safe and properly articulated approach to expanding campus walkability, gathering opportunities, alternative modes of transportation, nighttime experience and recreation.
The result drew from queues related to the technology of flight, observing pedestrian networks in the field and stakeholder meetings leading to the implementation pedestrian promenades, exterior study spaces, recreation nodes and student activity spaces. Careful consideration to microclimate, maintenance, stormwater and social interaction were key elements in the successful project.
