Durbin Park is an ongoing mixed use project, that envisions extensive improvements including retail, residential, public space and institutional uses. An extensive greenway system that was conceived by our team is both urban and rural in context. A spatial hierarchy of parks, plazas, open spaces and corridors link to create a public infrastructure reinventing the notion of community healthcare as “center of town”. The core tenets include:
• Embracing the context of the region with an emphasis on Durbin Creek
• Create a pedestrian network that can be branded
• Establish a methodology that properly serves Durbin Park while providing benefit to the community
• Integrate sustainable approaches to stormwater infrastructure
• Utilize health care as a basis for community gathering in passive and active programming
INNOVATIVE ELEMENTS
Designed earthwork to convey stormwater efficiently to minimize infrastructure through maximization of infiltration, and grading and landscape combined to enhance pedestrian experience and safety.
